Second Sunday at Torrey - July 11th, 2010 Second Sunday at Torrey - July 11th, 2010 Hello Fellow Hawks, July 11th is our next Torrey Hawks "Second Sunday" fly in. We'll be serving our usual fare of sandwiches, sodas, and snacks. I hope Dave Beardslee will be able to fly tandems, and my Falcon will be set up and available for anyone who doesn't have a glider (please bring your own harness and helmet). Seeking Support for the Torrey Hawks Seeking Support for the Torrey Hawks I've been working for 3 years to establish fair representation for all of our pilots at Torrey Pines. When I first asked about the Soaring Council, I was told that it was "defunct" and had been disbanded. I worked to get it meeting again so each individual pilot could have fair representation at Torrey. That Council has been meeting for 3 years now, and we are finally nearing that original goal. On March 13th, 2010, the USHPA Board of Directors passed a motion to ask their Soaring Council representative (currently Ken Baier) to work to increase our sports' representation on that Council to bring our total HG/PG representation...(more)Discuss

BIG BLUE SKY, DVD Exchange Big Blue Sky DVD (by Greg Launt) One of the Hawks, an E-teamer, and a great friend of the sport was asking me if I had a copy of Big Blue Sky. Unfortunately, my copy was no longer available. Bob Kuczewski suggested that we could arrange a DVD exchange program and provided a copy of Big Blue Sky. Torrey Hawks have 200 Members!! The Torrey Hawks now have 200 members!!! We just signed up members #200 and #201!! This is a pretty big milestone for our club. We started out with 7 original members on April 11th, 2007. In fact, we kept those same 7 members (more or less ... there was some confusion with two pilots named "Ken B.") until September 11th, 2007 when we applied for USHPA Chapter status and went "public" with our club the night before the September 12th Soaring Council meeting.
