When I went to get weather at usairnet, this pop up.
Important: You Are Using Ad Block Plus! Please don't, our site operates on ad revenue. We have over $300 a month in bills just to keep this site operable. Without advertisements this page may be forced to go to paid subscriptions or shut down completely.

WARNING: TRYING TO BLOCK THIS SCRIPT WILL RESULT IN THE BANNING OF YOUR IP. THINK BEFORE ATTEMPTING...

I like that fact that the economic recovery is all about HIM and not about ME.
And what about Ad Block Plus? Don't they deserve to be in business? They seem to know what I want!
I am probably the only person to un-block his site long enough to tell him I found some other weather at:
This is the topic that I got my one thumb down from Rob McKenzie (how was I to know he used to be a high school counselor?).
http://www.hanggliding.org/viewtopic.php?p=111380#111380
So he is heading "full speed" down a dead end street.
This is a machine that has no application.
A full size working model can be brought to a screeching halt with......finger pressure.
A machine that is so close to NOT working that you need a slide-rule and good college education to prove it does work.
And now (self proclaimed) he is going to waste the rest of his "productive years" informing everyone of his achievements.

spork, seek out your high school job counselor....and kill him.
He was just filling in for the day and didn't realize you were going to take him seriously.
As for a new direction, I hear they are have a tough time with "Effervescence logs" or something at Lock Ness. Here's a picture.

Yea, there are a more than a few questions about how two separate buildings come down in an identical fashion within hours of each other from two separate incidents.
Midtown Manhattan demolition, so easy a cave man can do it!

Not to mention that the electric grid for that block was off for the entire day (very rare) three days before the "accident".
But how that we have Obama, things are going to change!

Taxpayers voting for Obama is like chickens voting for Colonel Sanders.
I now doubt that the lawyer's objections had anything to do with any ethical issues against google stalking for membership. It was more of a power play to who would be cashing the dirty data mining revenue checks.

You guys did know that all of these 'social networking' sites are just big data mining operations for the looming prison planet control grid, right? They don't call them labs for nothing. They own all your writings. Your keystrokes are saved forever in a big ol' cyber cloud. The government uses the data to read the mental state of the populace. They get instant feedback on all their propaganda.

Davis Straub makes money when you click on those soft porno pics he puts on every page of his forum. Dennis Cavagnaro, the "marketing expert" just recently suggested that the porno pics be put on the .org site. More revenue and more psychological profiles for big brother.

The internet should be better than this..
People are leaving USHPA for a lot of reasons, money isn't the top issue.

How many members and ex-members would be willing to put a few bucks in the pot to form a new organization? Instead of going cold turkey take over the borg from within. Lead by example by showing how to 'generate' pilots and instructors through creative altruism.

One thousand pilots could do it by funding a central training center for instructors, then farming the instructors out to proselytize the sport in the untapped hinterlands of an unserved population. Not everyone can go to Wallaby or Lookout to train.

An instructor's union should be formed for the benefit of instructors, the true lifeblood of the sport. Everything hinges on instructors.

An independent instructor's guild/non profit group could develop a training syllabus that would be more effective than the bean counting system in place now.

Scooter tow teams could go to unserved areas of the country and market
"Free Hang Gliding Lessons" and then give the first lesson for free..

This would be a true lead generation program.
It opens the door to anyone so inclined to actually fly and you can quickly weed out the rest.

This would be funded by grants/donations from the borg foundation and in addition, a new pilot's organization/union/guild that cries out to be formed.
The plan will come from pilots, not the borg.
The corporation has no 'product' to sell.
Instructors are the value added producers and everyone else in the system are in it for something else.

Feeding instructors instead of google stalking/marketing experts makes much more sense.

People don't take up hang gliding because big brother algorithms have tracked them down. Are there any pilots that will disagree?

The future of hang gliding is in instruction, plain and simple.
Hi Greg, I haven't posted anything here for YEARS.
Welcome.
Tell Spike that Mark (and Angel and Devil) says Hi!

Greg Launt wrote:

And maybe even a few other required skills or knowledge including: a demonstration specific site knowledge and rules for both
flight and ground operation

We call that a "specific site sigh-off".
It allows you to fly a site that is out of your rating range.
I did that here for the "Nationals" last year. I had a couple of pilots that did NOT have XC on their tickets (restricted field landing) and wanted to participate. I spent a couple of hours going over the specific dangers around here and took them to a few choice bail-out fields so they felt comfortable about landing (we don't have restricted fields, we have bales of hay!!!).

My personal experience with Torrey can only be described as horrible.
My instructor was Rod Mitchell, he took me from a drooling fool to H-3.
When I was unable to arrange any "lessons" through the gliderport (long story) I asked him to come down and help me fly.
He treated the topic of Torrey Pines as TOXIC. He would NOT help me fly there under any circumstance. I tried to get more information out of him but he refused to talk about it.

BTW,"standard operating procedure" at Torrey Pines is to make a personal attack on ANYBODY trying to horn in on their operation.
Watch your back!

I, personally, do NOT support the H4/P4 proposition.

I DO support H3/P2 rating with Specific site endorsement and the following Special Skills: Foot Launch (FL);Windy Cliff launch (WCL); Assisted WCL; 360° Turns; Ridge Soaring (RS).

And maybe even a few other required skills or knowledge including: a demonstration specific site knowledge and rules for both
flight and ground operation; Ridge Soaring Rules and technique; top landing experience (maybe just a couple of tandems);
demonstrate knowledge of top landing technique and hazard avoidance; And limitations on the conditions upon which the H3/P2 can
operate...say 20MPH Sustained wind (and /or 10 mph gust differential), no more than 20° cross.

So maybe not for a newly minted H3, but rather for an experienced H3 in pursuit of greater experience and under the supervision
of an instructor until the requirements have been met.

I believe that all of these things are consistent with the existing USHPA pilot program...with only a few extra hoops to jump though.

I think that ALL qualified Instructors and Pilots should be allowed access to do this at Torrey Pines....
and be encouraged to do so. It's imperative that we support an environment that promotes further education and safety.

The current Site Administration and Flight Directorship responsibilities and duties should be relieved from any particular concessionaire.
Site fees and membership fees should go directly toward site administration and flight director support.
A clear avenue for conflict resolution and privilege review should be specified.

I would whole-heartedly support a concessionaire that follows these same rules, shows respect for the other instructors/pilots,
charges reasonable rates, and does not deceive or endanger the public.
Re: USHPA accused of serious ethical breach Wed, Mar 3 2010, 7:06:26 pm

From: "Dennis Cavagnaro" <dcavagnaro
"A tidbit that gets lost in the tale of the lead generation story is that Lisa asked us to get an attorney that knew what they were talking about in regards to non-profits and internet law because Herr was dead set against the program claiming it was in violation of some law. I was present during that phone call and didn't get the impression he had put a ton of hours into researching the issues and just threw out a pail of cold water and the process. I believe Lisa actually paid the attorney fees on that. I know I did not."

Steve Roti:
"Dennis brings up a good point about the outside attorney who was hired to advise the association on what a non-profit can do and what it can't do regarding lead generation. A non-profit organization like USHPA lives under different laws and rules than hanggliding.org or the Oz Report. The attorney gave the association specific guidelines, in writing, and those guidelines are ultimately what led to the breakup of USHPA and hanggliding.org when Jack was unwilling or unable to abide by them. Again, Jack does a lot of good things for the sport of hang gliding and this isn't said to disparage him, it's just that Jack's way of doing things didn't fit into USHPA's legal guidelines."

The lawyer objected because it crossed legal and ethical lines of non profits wheras it is quite legal,
as opposed to ethical or moral, in commercial law.

How refreshing...

To invoke and mangle KnumbKnuts analogy, you can only stare at a naked Emperor for a short time before I start to think the interest may transcend fashion, or news. And our Emperors have to stand elections and/or job reviews.

Do you think it was right or wrong (bugger the law) for USHPA to take the HTML code, given their history with its writer? No matter how tiny the offense, do the scales of justice tip a millimeter toward the duck or the witch?

I propose that "it didn't matter" is not an acceptable choice, since it clearly angered a guy who is much more level-headed than you or I.

The lawyer that has been there too long has exposed that there is something to hide by the childish "prudent paranoia" defense.

"we are so stupid that we can't conduct a business meeting for a non profit organization of pilots without fear that litigation will result because of something we may be held accountable for"

They are telegraphing their incompetence or corruption, one or the other.

What other reason, Mark G. Forbes?

Tell us the real reason why you aren't able to do the pilot's business if someone is looking over your shoulder that isn't a 'yes' man?

Mark Forbes won't answer. I would be very surprized to see it.

Surprize us all Mark Forbes.
Tell us why you are so afraid of Bob Kuczewski, and the openness, accountability and honesty that he represents to the membership.
Tell us why you represent the opposite, Mark Forbes?
Why are you so invested in secrecy and dishonesty in order to keep the membership out of the workings of their own organization?

Answer what you will, Mark G. Forbes, while I let my typing finger cool off and I get myself a lukewarm drink of water..
I like this part
<snip>
Before the "outlaw" councilors were recalled, they had approved a "performance review." This is an efficiency study where you bring in outside, uninvolved efficiency experts to make a study and an evaluation on your operating effectiveness. This has mysteriously disappeared from the budget without due process - in other words illegally. Not one of the temporary councilors has a comment.
<snip>

Thanks Mark,
The fight in Oregon is the same fight being played out at USHPA. A bunch of insiders are controlled by a self serving lawyer that runs the show.
The whole borg hides behind the paranoid self serving lawyer, Herr.
'The lawyer made us bar you. We are just pawns of the lawyer.'

The lawyer will do anything to keep anyone from examining the books, the inner workings of the non profic corporation that he feeds from.

If honest and honorable member representatives are elected that are not rubber stampers for the borg then all hell breaks out.
A sleazy Bevis media attacks the good guys and the corrupted system continues in having their way with the citizenry.

Well it has to stop and it has to stop now.
Tthe way it is being fought in Grants Pass is the way to fight the corporate borg at USHPA.

Citizens, members have to stand up, speak up, publish and otherwise decry and denounce the wrong doers for what they are doing.

A bright light of exposure is great medicine for what ails a system of secrecy, cover-up and dirty tricks. Citizens with an internet are the new media. The reason that newspapers are dying is because they have become arms of a corrupt system. Fascism is appropriate terminology to use to describe the unholy relationship that modern mainstream media has now become. This is the time. Reverse it now or forever surrender to the lies that enslave us.
Apathy only makes it worse.

The elite have no compassion or empathy. They believe if we are dumb enough to buy the lies that they spin, then we deserve what befalls us.
Davis is the Grants Pass paper. Davis has no empathy for anyone that isn't Davis. Straub should be sanctioned for the dirty yellow journalism he produces for the borg. Any paid up pilot could levy the charges through his Regional Director.
Yellow journalism has to go!

More Bernie Conrad, citizen activist journalism is what is needed if the American people ever expect to be free

Hooray for Bernie Conrad, Bill Kangas and for our own Bob Kuczewski.
It's not easy to do what they are doing. They need to be strongly supported by all.

My purpose in writing is not political or religious. I feel the time has come to enlist in the war between right and wrong. I do not claim a background of specialization other than a love of my family, my fellow man and the American pursuit of happiness. There has been an unquestionable downturn in the character and quality of life within my country - within my lifetime. I see numerous causes for this phenomenon. These causes I identify as the enemy. To speak out against them is to fight for my country. I have gotten too old for the sword so I shall take up the pen. It is a privilege to live in a country where I may do this. It is a shame to see our own citizens unaware of this blessing.

I like this part
<snip>

Dirty tricks of another good ol' boys club, in Oregon.

"How amazing it was for Grants Pass, Oregon, to have elected four city council members who ran on the platform of keeping government small and accountable to the people - and they started to do it. They started digging into all aspects of the city's administration to get to the bottom of what has really been going on for years - the taking from the people and passing it to corporate interests. It didn't take long for the big machine to realize these councilors weren't afraid to deliver to the people what they promised, so what can be described as only the "good ol' boy club" sprang into action and successfully ousted a council that did indeed have its public's best interest at heart. It was a sad day, indeed, for the Southern Oregon city, and truly telling of what is going on all around our country."

Read all about it. Secrecy, sandbagging, lies and a sleazy media attack from the local newspaper. The similarities are downright uncanny. It's like they all are using the same play book or somethin... http://newswithviews.com/Walter/paul102.htm
I can't agree with John W.'s advice below.
To self censor on any position before the board is submission to the dirty dealings of the borg, and they win.

If elected RD's aren't able to deal with issues before the board as is their duty to the pilots of their region, then maybe they should step down or be recalled themselves.

Do what you do best, Bob. Stand and deliver the issues and let the chips fall where they will. Pilots should put their RD's on the spot to quit being such wankers and do what is right instead of what the paranoid and self serving lawyer and the child abuser Mark Forbes, wants them to do.

In two sentences:
One thing that would make me immediately send in my renewal dollars is the ousting and replacement of Tim Herr. Lawyers are a dime a dozen and this one has been pulling strings too long. Oust him and the child abuser too!

Another would be a formal sanction against Davis Straub for professional malfeasance. The guys at CIVL can also revoke records for such things..
A journalist is supposed to have integrity. Davis doesn't.
And that's my professional opinion.

Bob, as your friend and as a one of the many people that voted for you, on this one, I have to ask you not to take up the cause.

Right now, the EC has it in for you with such a lack of professionalism, based on Mark's comments on the Oz Report, that the best thing you could do for our cause would be to go to the meeting and take notes. Full stop. Mind you, that may not be a bad strategy for yourself, in general, but that's your call.

It is my opinion they would shoot down *anything* we asked you to bring them, just to spite you.

Anyway, back to the item.

1. What's the exact on or two line description of what we want? I suggest:

Hanggliding.org, as an online community, specifically requests that the USHPA Board of Directors record every vote taken at the meeting in the minutes. In cases where the votes are not unanimous, we request that the vote of each voter be recorded. We request that this change be added to the organization's SOPs.

2. Who wants to chime in for each region? I'm closely identified with Bob and a little busy with club matters at the moment, by the way.

Let's start with this... it's a baby step that lays the groundwork for the future. I think if we don't do this, we pretty much lose the right to b**** about USHPA, no?

Now that I'm banned from the Oz Report, it seems that Mark Forbes is finally posting some "answers" over there. I guess it's safer to distort the truth about someone when they're not allowed to reply.

Davis has turned the Oz Report into a "free fire zone" for attacking me, and Mark Forbes is more than happy to jump in (along with Robin Marien and his Torrey PG crowd) by posting his attacks there rather than having the guts to post them here where I could respond.

It was bad enough when Davis was chopping up topics and moving my posts, but by barring me from replying to Mark Forbes, Davis has turned the Oz Report into USHPA's own propaganda publication.

"Journalism"? Ha, ha, ha.

Davis goes off topic and pollutes his own 'Bob made me do it' screed.
Davis was so scared of Ron Paul people that he banned the name "Ron" and "Paul' because too many of them read the idiotic things that Davis wrote on politics and evidently wrote to him about it.
